International Journal of Forensic Mental Health
« Back

Dear Authors,

It is with great pleasure that the Editorial Staff announces the on-line manuscript submission and review system for International Journal of Forensic Mental Health is now up and running!

The system used by the IJFMH is ScholarOne Manuscripts. ScholarOne Manuscripts allows the Editorial Staff to manage all stages of the submission and review process, and makes it easy for Authors to track and monitor the progress of their manuscripts as they proceed through the peer review and publication process.

Starting 1 August 2009, all new manuscripts submitted to IJFMH will be handled using ScholarOne Manuscripts. Using the system is easy! Here’s what to do:

1. Go to the IJFMH ScholarOne Manuscripts homepage
Launch your computer’s web browser and go to http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ufmh. You can use almost any major web browser, including Internet Explorer (7 or higher), Netscape (7.0, 7.1, or 7.2), Safari (1.2.4), or Firefox (2 or higher).

2. Log In to the System
The first time you use the system, create an account. Click on “create an account” at the top of the page, or on “Register here” in the “New User?” box on the right side of the page, then follow the instructions. Enter your contact details, including your name and e-mail address, then click “Next.” Now enter your institutional affiliation and mailing address, then click address “Next.” Finally, enter a user ID (such as your e-mail address) and password, then click “Finish.” You are now ready to log in. You will also receive an e-mail confirming you are registered.

Once you have registered, all you need to do is enter your user ID and password, then click on “log in.” If you forgot your user ID or password, or if you can’t remember whether you have registered, just enter your e-mail address, then click on “go.”

3. Go to the Author Center
Click on “Author Center.”

4. Submit Your Manuscript
Under “Author Resources,” click on “submit a new manuscript.” Provide the required information, following the instructions. Click on the “Next” button at the bottom of a page to save information and advance to the next screen. When prompted, upload your manuscript file. Click on the “Browse” button and locate the file on your computer. Select the description of the file in the dropdown next to the Browse button. When you have selected all files you wish to upload, click the “Upload” button. You can upload files totaling up to 30 MB in size. If you interrupt the submission process, you may log in at a later date and continue.

When you are ready to submit your manuscript, preview it in both PDF and HTML formats, make any necessary changes, then click “Submit.” This will send the manuscript to the Editorial Staff. Once your submission is received, you will be notified immediately by e-mail.

5. Track Your Manuscript’s Progress
You can log in to ScholarOne Manuscripts any time to check the status of your manuscript. But don’t worry, the Editorial Staff will inform you via e-mail once a decision about your manuscript has been reached.

It may take a while to work all the bugs out of the system, so thanks in advance for your patience! If you encounter any problems with ScholarOne Manuscripts, try clicking on “Help” or “Instructions” buttons. If you can’t fix the problems yourself, please contact one of the Editorial Staff and we will gladly assist you.

Sincerely,

Stephen D. Hart, Editor (hart@sfu.ca)
Barry Rosenfeld, Associate Editor (rosenfeld@fordham.edu)
